It’s sunshine in a mason jar,
made by hands that leaked her sweet light
as they squeezed sour juice from the fruit.
She added water, crystal-cool and
sparkling as much as her thirsty smile;
then sweetener, not sugar (better for a body
that’s the best I’ve ever seen), goes into the pitcher
and picture-perfect lemonade is made by the work
of a perfect-picture lady. The pitcher is tipped,
her beautiful drink poured over ice, lifted
to waiting lips, and I sip sunshine
from a mason jar.
